Unions PSP today decided to conduct a new general meeting for April 7 to take stock of the negotiations with the Minister of Internal Affairs on the future employment status.

The unions met today to morning at the headquarters of the Trade Union Association of Police Professionals (ASPP-PSP), in Lisbon, to fix reivindicativas positions and prepare for possible forms of struggle if the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) proceed with the current status of the proposal.

The president of the ASPP, Paulo Rodrigues, told Lusa agency that was marked a new meeting of all unions to April 7, after all union structures have met with Anabela Rodrigues minister.

The meeting of April 7 will serve to “take stock of the meetings with the MAI and take a stand” by the outcome of negotiations, said Paulo Rodrigues.

The President of the National Police Union ( SINAPOL), Armando Ferreira, told Lusa that all unions unanimously considered “unacceptable” the proposal of professional status of PSP presented by the Minister.

“The proposal is not in the police, the police and the country, “he said.

This meeting occurs on the day the minister starts with unions PSP negotiations on the future employment status, the ASPP being the first union to be received by Anabela Rodrigues, who earlier of the month presented to union structures the proposal.

The ASPP, which has the meeting scheduled for this afternoon, will ask the Minister to clarify that the availability of the MAI to change the proposal.

Paul Rodrigues considered that the document has to be “revised as a whole”, taking into account that he was “short of expectations” and “is the opposite of what was intended” by the former minister, Miguel Macedo.

However, the national leadership of the Public Security Police today called the presidents of the police unions for a meeting, and the meeting took about an hour.

No further details about what was covered in the meeting Paul Rodrigues said only that labor issues were addressed.

The president of SINAPOL said that the meeting with the national leadership of the PSP “are not necessarily focused on the issue of status,” having also been approached police matters .

“The statute is not to be treated with the national leadership, but with the MAI” he said.

The national leadership of the PSP called the presidents of the unions to the meeting on Thursday afternoon.

The increased workload, the reduction of vacation days and the creation of a new evaluation system are some of the points disputed by the police, which require that the status consecrate profession as risk and rapid wear.

The proposed MAI also provides for the creation of agent-ordinator posts and chief coordinator and remit the night work of police with more than 58 years, keeping request to take pre-retirement at 55 years of age or 36 years of service
