Domestic car production continues to rise – Turbo

Have a total of 108 655 vehicles, of which 17 913 left the production lines during the seventh month of 2014 were produced throughout the year in Portugal These figures mean that over the same period in July there was a rise of 6.4 %, while the increase in cumulative annual reaches 7.5%. Despite this improvement recorded values ​​remain among the lowest in recent years. In the last decade, from 2005 statistics, only in the last year and between 2009 and 2010 the numbers are lower.

Analyzing the fate of cars produced, we found that 96.8% (a total of 105139 cars ) are intended for export, although most of them end up staying on European soil. Altogether there are 79 in every 100 cars that remain in our hemisphere, while the second largest importer of cars manufactured in Portugal is China, absorbing 15.7% of national production.

Looking for brands, we found that most produced in Portugal is Volkswagen, followed later by Seat. Both are within the sphere of the Volkswagen Group, owner of the Autoeuropa factory that is responsible for 62.2% of domestic car production. The PSA group, which includes Peugeot and Citroen, the second largest automaker in Portugal, accounting for a share of 34.6% of the vehicles manufactured in our country.
