The TAP canceled at least 46 flights on Saturday, the day the Union of Civil Aviation Pilots (SPAC) called a strike that will last 24 hours. By the end of the day the number of suppressed flights may still increase, Publico said the spokesman of the airline, André Serpa Soares.

The canceled flights are all of high school, bound for European and domestic airports. The outputs of Lisbon are most affected, since, at Porto airport, the “stronger” presence of PGA (PGA) allowed lessen the effect of the strike, explained André Soares.

Between 17-18 of 42 000 thousand passengers with flight scheduled for this Saturday will embark throughout the day and the remainder will travel on other dates forward André Soares.

The president of the Union of Civil Aviation Pilots (SPAC), Jaime Prieto, told Publico that the strike had “a massive and very significant adhesion”, despite not having the technical means to account for the impact in percentage terms.

the flights were of course reduced the most affected, which is due to Prieto to “personal decisions” pilots. “Normally, long-haul pilots have greater institutional connection to the company and pilots are accumulating positions close to the administration,” said the union leader.

However, the strike announced by pilots do not have the aim of causing “operational impact”, but serves as a “wake-up call” against “bad labor and operational management” of TAP. One of the main issues to worry SPAC is the loss of skilled professionals. Jaime Prieto says that in the last two years, the company lost 37 pilots, “thousands of hours”, something that “never happened in the history of TAP.”

The TAP account hold 200 of the 350 flights provided, but the company between flights that are operated by the PGA (which explains the company is not on strike) and still “minimum flights or other services.”

There is also forecast six flights that should leave late on Sunday morning.

In addition to flights to Faro and Funchal who have been affected, according to the website TAP were also canceled flights to Dusseldorf, Oslo , Stockholm, Milan, Helsinki, Warsaw, Hanover, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Rome.

In the information panels did not show up at airports canceled flights. The reason, André Soares, is that these flights have been “empty” after its passengers were rerouted to other dates by TAP. “The flights were empty and were therefore removed from the information system,” said the aide to the PUBLIC.

According to TAP, the strike affects more than 27 000 passengers, which changed the date of their trips or canceled flights that were booked.

A TAP flight with scheduled departure and destination of Caracas to Lisbon was also canceled this Saturday, but for technical reasons. with Lusa
