One of the conclusions reached by research carried out by the prosecution refers to the role of John Perna, a former driver of José Sócrates, in the intricacies of Operation Marquis.
The driver Jose Socrates acted as a cover for connection between the former prime minister and Carlos Santos Silva, the ‘friend’ that you ‘lent’ large sums of money.
As described in the journal news, May 10, 2012, John Leg deposited a check for 15,000 euros, last by businessman Carlos Santos Silva, in your bank account.
Four days later, Leg issued a check in the same amount, which was deposited in the José Sócrates account, your boss.
Other Similar procedures were ascertained from the inspections, as in July last year when Leg deposited two thousand euro cash in your account, forwarding it the same day to your boss. Four days earlier, Santos Silva raised four thousand euros from their bank accounts.
These data lead the prosecutor to conclude that the bank accounts of the former driver were used to avoid a direct link between Socrates and the entrepreneur his friend, Santos Silva.
