If the intention and the timing of Government meet, the results presented today are the latest airline in state hands, as the Executive want to choose the future owner of TAP by the end of June.
Ministry of Economy Source has already confirmed that the airline closed 2014 with losses after five consecutive years of results positive. In 2013, the profit of TAP SA reached 34 million, a 42% increase over the previous year.
Also the TAP group closed 2014 on red, but in this case no surprises, because even though it would reduce the losses in 2013 still had a result of 5.9 million euro, engineering company of liability and maintenance in Brazil (former VEM).
In addition to explaining the results, the president of TAP, Fernando Pinto, has yet to reveal the findings of the audit to the disturbances that affected the operation of the TAP in the summer months.
In January, the Transport Secretary Sergio Monteiro forwarded the findings of the audit for the annual presentation of results rejecting that disturbances in the summer months could harm the company’s privatization.
In recent weeks, the Government has met with potentially interested in the privatization of TAP, which have up to 15 May to submit tenders binding for the purchase of up to 66% of the group.
