EPAL not want to mess in water prices this year. The company management, which is responsible for the supply of 34 municipalities in the greater Lisbon area, will propose to the authorities that prices remain unchanged in 2015.
The decision, announced in the presentation of results announcement, must be sent to the Directorate-General for Economic Activities, and then to the Regulatory Authority for Water and Waste Services. These will have to decide whether enable the proposal.
The company presented on Monday a net profit of 54 million euros, “being the best value of the 147-year history the company, “the statement said. The profit was achieved despite a slight drop in turnover, which fell by 1.1 million euros, corresponding to 0.8%.
The company justifies the results, in part, to a reduction in expenditure of 9.5 million euros, 10% less than in 2013. In addition “still contributed around EUR 8.2 million results net non-recurring, “said EPAL.
The group points out that last year, the company closed Club de Golf Amoreiras, a structure in Lisbon which was built in the early century, but was never used.
The general meeting of the company also approved the launch of a campaign called “Save up to 10%”, which aims to encourage the use of electronic invoicing and debt.
