Hospitality reinforces positive results in October more … – iOnline

The hotel has reinforced the positive results in October, with overnight stays to increase 13.9% and total revenue 15.2% year on year, benefiting from international events held and weather conditions, today released the INE.

The growth “mean in overnight stays have been positively influenced by the implementation of a number of international events related to water sports, as well as weather conditions particularly favorable to leisure,” the National Statistics Institute (INE) , recalling that the month of October was “the warmest since 1931″.

In this month, the overnight stays in hotels in Portugal reached 4.2 million, a year on year increase of 13.9% (9, 9% in September) helped by both residents (+ 12.5%) and non-residents (+ 14.4%), both with higher rise in September (+ 10.5% and + 9.7%).

Guests totaled 1.5 million, 14.0% more than in the same period (+ 10.6% in September) and over 11.9% accumulated since January.

In the month under review, the 10 main markets (which accounted for 80.0% of nights spent by non-residents, against 78.6% in October 2013) increased by over 10%, especially Italy (+31.6 %), Belgium (+ 30.4%) and France (+ 23.0%).

The British market, with a share of 27.0%, up 14.4%, the best result in the last five months, and nights spent by residents in Germany also increased (+ 12.0%) more than the previous month (+ 8.6%), corresponding to 15.9% of total nights spent by non-residents.

The average stay was 2.85 nights (similar to October 2013) and the rate of bed occupancy 45.0% (+3.4 pp), with Lisbon to present the highest value occupancy rate (61.2%), corresponding to the highest increase (+6.4 pp), followed closely by wood with 60.1% (+1.5 pp).

With regard to income, increased total 15.2% and 16.3% of the room, slightly more than in September (+ 13.3% and + 14.1%) having been an increase of 11.6% in RevPAR (average revenue per room), 9.5% in September, corresponding to 32.6 euros.

According to INE, tourist apartments showed “significant increases” in overnight stays (+ 18.7%) as the hotels (+ 16.3%) – including the five-star (+18, 0%) – which reached 66.4% of the total.

The nights spent by residents (951,500) increased by 12.5%, slightly higher than the previous month (+ 10.5%) and close to the nine-month period to October (+ 13.1%) while the nights spent by residents abroad “increased significantly” to 3.3 million (+ 14.4%), exceeding the result of recent months (+ 9.7% in September, up 8.2% in August and +5 5% in July) and also the accumulated until October (+ 9.9%).
