The Sociedade Francisco Manuel dos Santos, the largest shareholder of the private group Jerónimo Martins, Oceanarium won the concession tender of Lisbon, reported on Tuesday the agency Lusa reported citing a source close to the process.

The granting of equipment, one of the most visited in Lisbon, was awarded for 24 million euros, for a period of 30 years, during which the winner is also required to pay an annual rent.

The equipment, located in the Park of Nations and said that since the inauguration as one of the main attractions of the capital, is one of the assets that the government chose to transfer or grant concessions to help reduce the debt Park Expo, a company created in connection with the Expo-98 and currently in liquidation, after the Executive announced in 2011 its extinction.

The € 24 million that the private concessionaire agreed to pay equivalent in practice the sale of all shares in the capital of Lisbon Oceanarium, SA, which manages the equipment. The final report of the concession will now go forward for approval by the Council of Ministers, after having finished the contest period to the preliminary report without any of the four unsuccessful applicants had raised obstacles to the choice of government.

In addition to the Society Francisco Manuel dos Santos, ran the Spanish group Aspro Parks, the Portuguese company Water World (manager of the park Zoomarine Algarve), the French group Compagnie des Alps and the Spanish Parques Reunidos.

The proposed state budget 2015 predicted revenue of 40 million euros with the granting of the Oceanarium, which in 2014 generated profits of 1.49 million and received this year close to one million visitors. Lusa
