The bad loans in families increased again and reached a new record in August representing 4.27% of loans, according to data released Tuesday by the Bank of Portugal.
The bad debt recorded in total credit granted to individuals rose from 4.21% in July to 4.27% in August, an increase of 0.06 percentage points.
beginning of the year, doubtful debts exceeded 4% of total loans and since then reaching new highs every month.
Also doubtful debts in housing as a percentage of total credit granted for this purpose rose from 2.43% in July to 2.46% in August.
In relation to consumer credit, data from the Bank of Portugal show that the bad debt increased again to 10, 92% in July to 10.98% in August, after having reduced 0.07 between the 10th June and July.
As for credit for other purposes, the numbers of regulatory realize that the bad debt increased 14.53% to 14.77% in the last two months, also reaching a new record. The doubtful loans in this sector had been rising since December.
