The construction sector continues to report declines, but at a slower pace. Contributing to this slowdown were the two main components. Buildings and civil engineering
The production index in construction fell by 8.1% in the quarter ended in August, revealed this Friday, 10 October, the National Statistics Institute (INE). This decline is smaller than that observed in July (9.4%).
“The less negative growth revealed by the construction activity in this period was common to both segments considered, Building Construction and Civil Engineering, which recorded annual change of -6.7% and -10.1%, respectively (-7.8% and -11.8% in July), “says the INE.
Employment also continued to fall, but also at a slower pace. Already wages rose by the fall.
“The index of employment in the construction sector decreased by 4.3% year on year (range -5.1% in July),” while the “rate of remuneration presented in August, one year change of -3.9% (range -1.9% in the previous month), “added the same source.
