Wood. Owners of homes destroyed by the fires exempt from IMI – Observer

The Regional Inclusion Secretariat and Social Affairs of Wood reports that the owners of the houses that were completely destroyed by the fires are exempt from payment of Property Tax (IMI).

In the note sent on Sunday , the Madeira government department says the owners “whose house was completely destroyed by fire should contact the Tax Authority and Tax Madeira Affairs for the purposes of IMI exemption.”

the secretary also announced another statement, recalling that there is a Fire Emergency Line, with the number 926768743, which “can be used by the population for the purpose of information and referral on resettlement processes, reconstruction and social support.”

on Saturday the regional secretary of Inclusion and Social Affairs, Rubina Leal, told reporters that were yet to resettle about 160 people, approximately 1,000 had to be displaced due to the fires that hit Madeira since last Monday.

According to the minister, the number of evacuees may rise to 200 people, as some of the affected are in homes of family and friends.

the fires in Madeira caused three deaths, widespread damage materials and damaged about two dozen homes.
