Ex-minister disagrees with Marcelo and says that the banker is not “nothing good” – Diário de Notícias – Lisbon

Maria Luis Albuquerque said today that things are not going well” in Portuguese banking, disagreeing with the opinion of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

“Respectfully, I disagree with the President of the Republic. I think that, in fact, things are not going well in the bank, nothing of that has been the recent developments and the role of the Government allows us to, in my point of view, draw the conclusion that things are going well”, said today the ex-ruler, in Vila Nova de Gaia, district of Porto.

on The sidelines of the dinner/conference “Portugal and the “Troika” before and after”, organized by the Núcleo de Grijó/Sermonde PSD/Gaia, the social-democrat noted that, “so” in the Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), there has been a succession of errors, one behind the other and the situation remains unresolved.

“And the Government has already taken possession for more than a year,” he added.

As to the victims of the BES, Maria Luís Albuquerque said already to have heard “at least” three more dates to solve your problems, but until now nothing was announced.

The vice-president of the PSD considered that nothing that has happened leads her to have “any worries” about the situation of banking in Portugal, because what you have seen are ads “solutions that may or not happen.”

The strategy that has been followed by the Government of António Costa is not correct because you do not have to post a country to grow, opined.

“Just see the economic results, that is, a growth, both this year, both for the next few years, lower than what we had in 2015, in addition to the investment to be in the fall. Nothing in the performance of the Government and doctor António Costa leading us to believe that things can work for a better future because we are almost at the end of the year and, frankly, not went well”, and considered it.

According to the former minister, this action withdraws the confidence to the country, an essential element for there to be economic recovery and investment.

Questioned about whether the leadership of Pedro Passos Coelho is weakened, the vice-president of the party said that it makes no sense to discuss this matter.

“There was a congress this year and is not presented over any candidate. Pedro Passos Coelho, after winning the legislative elections, was re-elected with more than 95% of the votes, therefore, it makes no sense to even comment”, he said.
