Directory excludes minimum wage but ensure that central union will take the issue to debate. If so, employers will not refuse the discussion.
Tomorrow’s social concertation meeting but the government did not include the issue of the minimum wage (NMW) on the agenda. Still, union partners guarantee that will address the issue. And if the question is raised, employers say they will not refuse the discussion. Neither the Government. Steps said yesterday that it is open to discussing the descent of SMN but repeated that incomes policy has to be linked to productivity and business. According to the agenda of the meeting, the partners will begin by discussing the draft reform of the IRS. Here is the debate around the draft ordinance based on the findings of the working group on rationalization of active employment measures. Finally, the social partners should make a “point of situation the negotiating table.” Although the minimum wage has been one of the subjects discussed in negotiating tables, the meeting agenda not expressly indicates this. The exclusion bother union confederations, which have ensured that they will not drop the matter tomorrow. The CGTP did write, on Friday, the Minister of Employment and Social Security, requesting that the topic was included in the meeting’s agenda explained to Inter in a statement sent to newsrooms. And tomorrow will bring its proposal to the negotiating table. The CGTP claims a rise in the minimum wage from 485 to 515 euros with effect in June, arguing further increases to 540 euros (in January 2014) and 600 euros (in 2016). “We will raise the issue” of raising the minimum wage at the meeting also said, in turn, the secretary general of the UGT on Friday. Carlos Silva aoDiárioEconómico said it would “take the meeting” to show their discontent with this option the Government, which, refers to the leader of the center, had guaranteed discuss the minimum wage increase at the September meeting. The UGT had advocated increasing the minimum wage to 500 euros, with effect from July. But if the update is not retroactive, the UGT will now require an immediate climb to 505 euros. And if the Government postpone the decision for January, the requirements will be higher, warns. The side of employers, the Confederation of Trade and Services of Portugal (CCP) indicates that it does not intend to put the issue of the minimum wage but stresses it does not preclude that the issue be discussed at the next meeting. And also the CIP – Business Confederation of Portugal states that the matter will not be addressed on its own initiative but will not refuse the discussion. The Government has called for a “multi-year agreement” for updating the minimum guaranteed return and indexing this reference to productivity. Now they need to know when, and how, will increase the minimum wage. In May, the Government presented a report which had reference to rise to EUR 500 in all scenarios presented.
