The new € 10 banknote in circulation and enters tomorrow, as the already renovated five euro note, is smaller, more colorful and, above all, safer.
By the method “feel-look-tilt” will be possible for anyone to check the validity of the note. The note has a raised print, printed by the banks lines, giving it not only safer as allow those who have low vision to identify the notes through its various reliefs. Paper is stronger and has a protective layer, thus increasing its lifespan.
As the former, the new note has yet watermarks and security thread. Emerald is already number one novelty: depending on the angle of observation the “10″ Emerald change color, ranging from green and dark blue. The note has a silver band with holograms, a portrait of Europe, a window and representative figures of the note value.
Pedro Marques, deputy director of the issued and treasury department of the Bank of Portugal, believes that machines tolling will be prepared to pay with the new notes of 10 euros already starting tomorrow, given the long working process between the regulator and the main companies of the sector.
however John Amaral Tomaz, manager of the Bank of Portugal, says: “We can not ensure that all equipment is able to accept the new € 10 note already from tomorrow”, since many payment facilities are traders or companies and “we can not force them to do the adaptation of ‘vending’ machines.”
