Identify and characterize the existence of deposits of lithium in Portugal and the potential economic activities associated with its use has led the Government to create a working group for this ore.
In a statement, the office of the secretary of State for Energy, Jorge Seguro Sanches, author of the order that creates the working group, points to a date up to 31 March of the next year the presentation of the conclusions of this working group.

Now, it is the secretary of state Power to give “gas” to this ore, saying that “the relevance of mineral of lithium existing in Portugal is demonstrated by the growing interest registered by the mining companies”.
The study will be coordinated by the deputy director general of the Directorate-General of Energy and Geology, Cristina Vieira Lourenço, being represented in the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology, EDM – Empresa de Desenvolvimento Mineiro, the National Association of Extractive Industry and Manufacturing, and the Portuguese Association of industry of Marbles and Granites.
“The working group aims to further evaluate the possibility of production of lithium metal”, responds to the government, explaining that the minerals lithium extracted in Portugal are intended in unique to the ceramics industry, being used as fusion (to fuse) and download the energy bill.
