the president of The Portfuel showed up, this Wednesday, surprised with the Government’s intention to rescind the contracts for prospecting and exploitation of petroleum in the Algarve, noting that the company has fulfilled the conditions of the contract “with all rigor”.
“It’s a story that has no meaning. We comply with all the accuracy all the conditions of the contract. There is on our part any lack. It was all accomplished with accuracy. All the conditions of the contract, there is no failure. Things are going with all normal. There must be some misunderstanding,” he told the Lusa news agency, Sousa Cintra.
In statements to Lusa, the president of the Portfuel said he had not received any notification, nor have the knowledge of what had been asked for a second opinion to the Attorney general’s office (PGR) on the contracts.
“I Am unaware of any opinion. I can say with all security is that our part has been fulfilled everything. There is no failure, no, this news does not have sense. (…) We have not received any opinion of the PGR,” he said.
the lawyer Portfuel, Andrew Figueira, pointed out to Reuters that the company has not been notified, nor has knowledge of any opinion of the RMP.
“we have Not been notified of anything. We did not have knowledge of any opinion. We had knowledge of the first [opinion], which gave us reason in the entire line, and that says that we comply with everything. In addition, I recall that there was an administrative procedure to terminate the contract and whose term able to respond in 10 days,” he said.
André Figueira explained that the National Entity for the Fuel Markets (TNGC) had 180 days to respond and did not.
“Or, expired the procedure of termination of the contract, so how is that now appears a second opinion of OPG, that we do not know, because we were not notified of anything about a termination of the contracts. How is it possible, out of nothing, to be a second opinion when the first gave us reason,” he stressed.
The lawyer Portfuel said also that the company has already delivered the work plan for 2017, having been requested also the deposit for the next year.
“Now we have received this news. It is at all strange. Let us now try to have access to the opinion of the PGR, analyze the situation and then act accordingly”, he concluded.
