Earthquake in Taiwan is 13 dead and razes buildings – Renaissance (press release)

The most recent balance sheet of the earthquake that on Friday shook the island of Taiwan realize at least 13 dead and 400 wounded. the island of Taiwan. There are dozens of people missing and at least 20 have been identified trapped in the rubble.

The city of Tainan, with two million residents, was hardest hit. Nine people were pulled lifeless from a 17-story tower, which did not survive the earthquake of 6.4 degrees on the Richter scale.

More than 220 residents were removed from the building debris, known as Golden Dragon.

About 800 soldiers were mobilized to help in efforts to find and rescue survivors.

About 250 thousand people are still without water and more than two thousand homes remain private energy.

according to the emergency center of Taiwan, the earthquake caused the collapse of nine buildings in Tainan city and five others were leaning and in danger of collapsing.

Taiwan is located next to two seismic faults. In 1999, a violent earthquake caused the deaths of 2,400 people.
