Peugeot and Renault share the podium of sales in January – Jornal de Negócios – Portugal

In the month of January were sold 18.051 motor vehicles in Portugal, which corresponds to a growth of 9.5% compared to the same month last year, according to data disclosed this Wednesday, February 1, by the ACAP. This growth in sales corresponds to a slowdown in the expansion of this market, enhance the association.

For brands, the big winners in the light-duty passenger cars have been the Peugeot and the Renault, both with 1.475 vehicles sold, which corresponds to 9,81% of the market share. In the case of the Peugeot the yearon-year increase was 11.3%, having in January of last year been the best-selling brand. Already Renault has seen a sales increase of 34.6%, continuing to register growth. In 2016, this was even the brand that is most sold in Portugal.

In third place was the Mercedes-Benz, with 1.441 light-duty vehicles sold, which corresponds to the 9,59% of the market.

The Volkswagen that is known to be among the brands most sold in Portugal declined for the fifth place, with 1.218 cars that are traded in exactly the same number that was observed a year ago. Before it comes to BMW, with 1.320 vehicles.
