Registered unemployed declined to a minimum from 2009 – Jornal de Negócios – Portugal

In December were registered in employment centres 482.556 people, according to data released by the Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) this Monday, January 23. This number corresponds to a drop of 13.1% compared to the same period of 2015.

The data from the end of the year are not yet known, with the National Institute of Statistics (INE) reveal only the provisional data of November, the month in which the unemployment rate should have decreased to 10.5%.

The monthly estimates of employment and unemployment December will only be disclosed on the 30th of January.

as for the job vacancies also decreased by 10.7% to a total of 681.787, which corresponds to the lowest level since the first quarter of 2013.

women continue to represent the largest share of unemployed persons (52,9%), having been observed a decrease of 11.4% of women unemployed in the last year. Among men the decline was 14.9%.

The enrolled less than a year are also the majority (52%), having been observed the biggest decline among this segment (15%). Already in the long-term unemployed, the reduction was 11%.
