S. Bento station will have a market and a hostel – the Observer

The Station of São Bento will have a hostel until the end of the year. According to the Infrastructure of Portugal, owner of the historic station in porto, the works are almost completed and include the installation of the first Starbucks coffee shop in the city of Porto. In the second half of 2017, opens the Market for the Time Out.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, the same day we celebrated the 100.Anniversary of the inauguration of the railway station, designed by the architect José Marques da Silva. According to the group Time Out, the market will have a 2,200 square meters, with 15 restaurants, four bars, four shops, a café and an art gallery. "Everything is rooted in local businesses," said in a statement the group, which owns the magazines, Time Out Lisbon Time Out Porto. The large space will be on the side of the Street of the Laurel tree.

In 2014, the group inaugurated the Ribeira Market in Lisbon, which also organises, occasionally, cultural performances. At the Port, the market you must have 500 seats to potential customers. And they are many: every month, around a million passengers use this station, which is also much visited by tourists who want to admire the tile panels by Jorge Colaço (1868-1942).

according To the stimulation plan of the public company Infrastructure of Portugal, the hotel unit that is expected to open in December of this year is called inStation Hostel & Student Residence and is on the side of the Street to the Wood, next to the café Jeronymo, of the Jerónimo Martins group, opened since September.

The plan, which also includes a redevelopment of the ticket office of the station, provides for the creation of 500 new direct jobs and the doubling of revenue in 2015. At the beginning of the year, the company had guaranteed also to a reformulation of the sanitary facilities existing, "ensuring the best conditions of use of the station".

The color purple is the coffee Jeronymo, open since September. Next, the orange, is the future hostel. On the opposite side, the space dark green symbolizes the future Starbucks. The light green is the ticket of the CP. Next, the light brown, will the Market Time Out.
