Fiat Chrysler investigated by manipulating emissions. Actions falling-unreleased – Jornal de Negócios – Portugal

The automobile manufacturer Fiat Chrysler is being investigated for an alleged manipulation of emissions. The shares of the company are registering falls to record on a single day, depreciating more than 16% to 8,78 euros. The scenario has led to the negotiation of the same was suspended.

The investigations are to be carried out by the u.s. government, which accuses the manufacturer have installed a software that has manipulated the emissions of more than 104 thousand cars, represents the agency Bloomberg.

The Environmental Protection Agency north american directed a notice of the violation to Fiat Chrysler for alleged violations of the Clean Air Act, the law that regulates air pollution at the national level. In question are the models of Jeep Grand Cherokees and minivans Ram 1500 with diesel engines of three litres sold in the United States of America. According to the USA Today, the Environmental Protection Agency must impose a ne of 37.500 dollars for each vehicle in non-compliance. This would represent a cost in excess of $ 3.75 billion (around eur 3.5 billion).

This week, and in response to the pressures of the president-elect Donald Trump for the car manufacturers to install in the United States of America, the Fiat announced an investment of one billion euros. In practice, it is the expansion of two factories in Michigan and in Ohio, creating two thousand jobs. The projects in Mexico were suspended.

On the origin of the investigations are the declarations of a vendor of Illinois, claiming that Fiat Chrysler had manipulated and rewarded dealers that falsificassem the sales data. Other entrepreneurs have joined together, giving strength to this position.


The charges to Fiat Chrysler arrive after the scandal at Volkswagen, which was discovered in September 2015 in the United States of America. The German group handled 11 million cars diesel in all over the world. The “software” caused the vehicles emitted less during the laboratory tests. The value would shoot during the construction of the road.


This week, Volkswagen has acknowledged guilt and agreed to pay 4.3 billion dollars (about four billion euros) to us authorities due to this scandal. It is just one of the slices of a cake that already go beyond 20.5 billion euros.
